The conduct of this year’s Schools Volleyball and Football competitions was not up to standard; hence The National Sports Council is looking at the possibility of organizing the Schools Athletics competition during the second term.
Prior to this year’s competition, the Ministry of Education organized a three-day workshop for Physical and Health Education (PHE) Teachers, to look into the causes of violence in schools competition and how these incidences of violence would be minimized.
From all indications, it was revealed that these Teachers have failed to implement recommendations of the workshop, as some of them were guilty of using players who were not regular students.
For the organizers, they have been preoccupied with the revenue collected from gate takings.
Principals also have a role to play, in ensuring that PHE Teachers make use of legitimate students.
