Sports Avenue celebrate 10 years in grand style

Sports Avenue, a program aired on BBN FM 93.2 on Saturday 25th February 2012 celebrated its 10th year of existence in a grand style at their Wilberforce Village studio office.
During the celebration, the CEO of the station, Ransford Wright said that to have the sport program was not easy by then as the radio station was a believer station. He said that after several meetings they were able convince the board to see reason for the program after which permission was given for the go ahead.
He said since that time up to the present day, the sport program has created serious impact in the country as many people are now following it religiously and is aired every Saturday and Wednesday every week.
The CEO went on to pay tribute to all those who in diverse ways been holding the fort for the past ten years and acknowledged their commitment, dedication and hard work put in making the program what it is. He called on those coming now to ensure the maintenance of the integrity of the program.
One of the programme’s founding members, and current Presenter, Ibrahim Okon, said it was challenge bringing the program into reality. According to him they have been successful due commitment and dedication.
Some listerners of the program were also given the opportunity to call and make vital contributions during the program live on air anniversary celebration. Ten certificates were awarded to sporting personalities who have contributed to the development of sports in the country.
Some of the personalities honored included: President of the National Olympic Committee, Henry G. Moore, Isha Johansen, founder of FC Johansen, Abdul Karim Sesay, President of Athletics Association, Nahim Khadi, President of the Sierra Leone Football Association, Sierra Leone’s football icon, Mohamed Kallon, Central One Football Association (COFA), Sports Life International, Sport Listeners, Max and Sam Foundation and Germany Tailor.
