The Founder of Planting Promise International, Pastor Siray E. Boston-Mammah has described sports as a key pillar of education during the school’s first inter-house athletics meet held at the Fire Force Grounds last Friday, 10th February 2012.
Pastor Siray said when children are effective engaged in sports they grow to be mentally and physically strong, and such a state of being helps them in their school works.
She expressed gratitude to parents for huge turnout noting that it demonstrates the parents’ love for their children and their determination to see their children grow healthy and be physically fit to face the challenges of their school’s work.
Giving a synopsis of the event, she explained that there are four sporting houses in the school named after certain prominent people who have contributed in no small measure towards the development of the school since its establishment. The houses are; Mammah House, Richard House, Letticia House and Rocco House. Two hundred pupils are evenly distributed amongst the four houses to ensure fair competition, she said.
She revealed a partnership that exists between her school and two other schools in the United Kingdom including the Eleanor Palmer School which she disclosed are assisting her school with learning materials used for teaching the children.
“This partnership is helping our children and teachers a lot and through this our children are doing very well,” she maintained.
Pastor Siray said the vision behind the school’s establishment was derived from an earlier Summer School classes which attracted high number of children. She said she was therefore approached by people of the community to set up a school to help the children in the community.
At the end of the one day sports meet however, Rocco House with Red Colour, emerged in first position with 342 points, with Letticia House in Green coming second with a total of 326 points followed by Mammah House in Blue with 306 points and Richard House in Yellow coming fourth with 297 points.
