Dr Peter Adowk Nyaba, a senior member of the Upper House of the National Assembly in Khartoum who is representing the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), will be visiting Sierra Leone from 14-22 August.
The visit, which is being pioneered by the Africanist Movement, is a first phase of an international campaign designed to raise the consciousness of Africans about the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
Dr Nyaba is a leading international consultant in East Africa and civil society organizer who has consistently spoken out on issues affecting Sudan.
The SPLM representative is one of few Sudanese writers who have situated the Darfur conflict in its historical context explaining what the Khatoum government is doing to Africans in Darfur.
During his visit to the country Dr Peter Adowk Nyaba is expected to meet with the press, civil society, community leaders, human rights activists and grassroot organizations as part of the effort to raise the understanding of people in the country on the struggle in Sudan.
Also the SPLM rep. will meet leaders of the Pan-African Union (PANAFU) and other progressive organizations in the country.
