For easier, fast, cheap and safe method of sending money to relatives and friends in different parts
of the country, splash mobile money limited allows you to send money using just your mobile phone.
Splash is Sierra Leone’s first mobile payment system, which is registered with NATCOM, partnered with Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), Zain and Africell.
Launching Splash at the Balmaya restaurant in Freetown, one of the Directors Sheka Forna said that Splash is similar to services successfully deployed in Eastern and Southern Africa, and will enable wider access to basic financial services.  He said that registration is free and do not need to have a bank account, all you have to do is find your local agent or branch of  GTBank, Skaitel and Balani and Sons to send and receive money.
Forna explained that customers can buy and redeem electronic money –‘splash cash’ through a network of agents, enabling instant money transfer over long distances.
The Director reiterated that customers can register with a Splash agent; then load money onto your mobile phone; then send that money to any Zain or Africell customer through texts free of cost. He added that the recipient can then receive the money by the notification of SMS to get their money.
Demonstrating how splash works, Ben Farren said that customers can go to the nearest Splash agent; fill in a form and in turn Splash will then send you a text containing your PIN and Secret Word.
He cautioned that you should memorize these and delete the text from your mobile phone.
Explaining how to send and receive money, he said that customers can go to a Splash agent give them the amount you want to pay into your account; both you and the agent will receive receipts from Splash confirming that you have successfully transferred money.
He stated that, the Splash agent will then send a notification text to the chosen recipient and the recipient can go to any Splash agent to get their money, adding that you can only pay a fee to transfer the money.
Momodu Kamara, Operations Officer said that to check your account balance create a new text message and type ‘Total’ your ‘PIN’ and send it to Splash at 700 (texts are free).
