Peter M’Claren an investigative officer in the office of the prosecutor at the special court, residing at Lumley beach road yesterday testified in Magistrate Steven Conteh’s court No.1 in the ongoing FBC murder case in which he positively identified the 6th accused.
Led in evidence by the Director of Public Prosecution Oladipo Robin Mason the witness told the court that he was at his veranda which is facing Lumley beach in the afternoon, having fun with some friends when he saw a group of young men. He disclosed that some of them were in colored T-Shirts while some others were wearing white T-Shirts. He said they were in a friendly atmosphere, drinking alcohol until after some hours when he saw those with the white T-Shirt lying on the ground with their eyes open in the sun and their mouths widely open while those in the colored T-shirts were pouring alcohol in their mouths. He further told the court that after they had done that the boys were tired and could not see, after a long time with the sun penetrating in their eyes. He said the men were forced to walk in their critical conditions and that’s where they started humiliating the men. According to him they were beaten, kicked on their back close to their kidney and some of the men stood on top of those with the white T-shirt.
The witness said during that process the 6th accused turned around, pointed at him and made some statement against him. At around 7 o’clock they were still at the Lumley beach but I cannot tell what they were doing because the place was dark; said the witness.
Macky Sheriff who was one of the men they initiated on that day told the court that the Islanders club is registered under FBC in the Social Sciences and Law department. He said he knew the deceased and he was among the nine that were initiated on that day. They gave us; Pega Pack, Punch and Stouts and they ordered us to do minor physical exercises like jogging the witness added. H e said he was overdosed with alcohol and could not recall all what happened after wards. He told the court that when he got to his senses he found himself in the trunk of his car. The trial continues.
