The People’s Democratic Party (PDP Sorbeh) on Friday joined the All People’s Congress (APC) ahead of the August 11 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Addressing party faithful at the APC’s Freetown headquarters, PDP Sorbeh’s interim leader Abdulai Bai Bureh Bangura, who led the delegation, said “we render our support to the APC so that it will win the forthcoming elections”.
Mr Bai Bureh Bangura stated that, “on behalf of the PDP I declare on this day the sincere and unconditional support of PDP for the APC”.
He stated that, “there is no doubt that PDP Sorbeh was founded on democratic principles and the party has remained so since the demise of its great founder Hon Thaimu Bangura in 1999”.
The PDP Sorbeh interim leader averred that, “it therefore goes without saying that our decision to join the APC in the struggle for victory in the August 11 elections, is borne out of long and democratic deliberations within the entire membership of our party.”
He maintained that his party had been in coalition with the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) for over 10 years but they were never satisfied with them.
“It is on this ground that we decided to join the APC for two terms. We have faith in the leadership of Ernest because we believe he would deliver to the people of this country,” he stated.
