The Sierra Leone Red Cross Society (SLRCS) Kenema branch in collaboration with the District Health Management Team (DHMT) has met with the chiefdom authorities on child survival intervention activities in the Small Bo chiefdom in the Kenema district. Addressing participants at the meeting, the chairman of the programme, Patrick Songu who is also the Physical Health Education Officer at the Government Hospital in Kenema city says the purpose of the meeting is to orientate participants on the integrated child survival project that the Red Cross is presently running in Simbaru, Small Bo, Kandu Leppiama and Niawa chiefdoms respectively.
Mr. Sheku Bockarie, who is the Health Officer of the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society says the work of the Red Cross is to intervene whenever there is a crisis in any community. He advised the participants to use the message as part of their health concern. The chiefdom speaker of Small Bo chiefdom Chief Mambu Moiwa in his address, says he is happy to host the four chiefdoms and the Red Cross in his chiefdom. Chief Moiwa appealed to all participants to take the message to their various chiefdoms for a better health management of their community.
