The Director of Roads Maintenance, Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), Sahr Earnest Gbembo, has ended a week-long tour of ongoing road works that took him to Makeni, Kenema, Bo and various Provincial towns.
Speaking to Awoko News at the close of the inspection tour in Bo City, the SLRA Director described the present state of the roads as good to go inspite of the fact that certain parts need finishing torches, particularly when its timely for engineers to examine the work done and to further know what next to be to done
On the question of whether the road work is not behind schedule as the rains commence, the Director was quick to say that its true that major road works has to be done in the dry season, but that does mean that other works including brushing cannot be done during the rains
Asked whether places proving impossible were properly inspected including the historic Gondama bridge along other Ferry Crossing Points, the Director satd the tour took into consideration all that needs the desperate attention of SLRA, ongoing follow-up as demanded by the agenda of the President
The director further made mention of the collaborative gesture which took him in the company of the Resident Minister, South, Moijue Kaikai, along side the Regional Engineer, Soluku Boakarie and others to look at the places of concern as was expressed by the Community people during which Komendeh Section was visited to take care of the over flow of water within that part of Bo city.
Speaking at the end of the short visit, the Resident Minister expressed Government’s ever growing commitment to road work and other infrastructural developments which, the Minister emphasized, remain the hall mark of the Government of President Koroma
Earlier during the briefing, the regional SLRA officials took the Director on a conducted tour of the ongoing road work which were giving various commendations
