Ahead of the bye election for the upcoming local council election slated for March 2009 the women’s wing of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party in the Southern Region have strictly warned against further political violence in the Soro Gbema Chiefdom Pujehun District.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with our Southern Region Correspondent the SLPP Regional Women’s Leader Kadie Zorokon said the ugly incident that left SLPP supporters beaten and raped should not be repeated.
She called on concerned authorities to put in place all the necessary mechanism for free fair and transparent bye election and that no one should be harassed, intimidated or beaten because of their political ideology.
She further warned against the harassment of party agents during the conduct of the bye election and also warned the resident Minister South to avoid visiting any polling center during the conduct of the election until investigations are completed.
Madam Zorokon further warned against incitement and political intimidation, she however called on party loyalist to respect the process and give peace a chance.
