Although as an incumbent the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) lost the national elections to the then opposition, All Peoples Congress (APC), the SLPP has not given up the political fight, as it is now preparing for the upcoming local government elections.
The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP)’s National Executive Council (NEC) has issued a statement which states that, “in accordance with Clause 3 (B) of the Constitution of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), the National Secretariat would be organizing a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Bo city on January 11-12, 2008 at the Bo city hall”.
It continues, “the focus of the NEC meeting shall include discussions on the amended party constitution, party organization, [and most importantly] on the forthcoming Local Council Elections and other pertinent issues.”
Members of the National Executive Council, the release states, are requested to collect official invitation letters from the National Secretariat. “Patrons, who may wish to attend as observers, are also requested to contact the Secretariat for proper accreditation,” the statement notes.
