As the political atmosphere continues to be on edge in Kailahun, the SLPP and PMDC offices and the chiefdom speaker’s residence have been vandalized by unidentified supporters of both parties.
It all started over the weekend when hundreds of people took to the streets of Kailahun in the PMDC party colour with masked devils in support of their parliamentary aspirant, Lamin Vonjo Ngobeh, and their leader Charles Margai when some SLPP supporters processed by the PMDC office at the Ngobeh compound.
In the procession were Mrs. Mamie Foyah, Navo Kaikai and other SLPP supporters.
The Local Unit Commander (LUC), Kariefa Keitta, came to the scene and warned the SLPP supporters on board an SLPP campaign vehicle with registration ADF-829 to adhere to the electoral laws.
He reportedly said that the previous day July 14 was an uninterrupted SLPP campaign day, and that they should therefore give July 15 to PMDC.
The situation was blown out of proportion between Sunday evening and Monday morning when some unidentified supporters of both SLPP and PMDC pelted each other’s office with stones.
The residence of the chiefdom speaker, Lamin Bongai Ngobeh, was damaged by alleged PMDC supporters.
