The Sierra Leone Peoples party rank and file has come under sharp criticism by no less an insider than the former National Secretary General Prince Harding who has accused the party leadership of reckless use of money for recruitment and appointment of candidates well ahead of their party convention.
Prince Harding made these revelations to our Southern Region Correspondent at Baoma during an exclusive interview.
He accused the Bo Executive based party hierarchy of allegedly having downplayed the candidacy of people as against party loyalist in the area against the newly elected chairman of the constituency who is resident in the USA in the person of one Joseph Kpulum.
He expressed frustration, disappointment and dismay as to how the SLPP constituency Chairman for Bo District will be appointed while away in the USA, he called for the appointment of committed, determined and reliable individuals who will take the party forward and called for an over hauling of the party leadership that will be reflective of the realities on the ground.
This criticism came as a result of an ongoing restructuring plan to bring back old party members that has plunged the ruling APC and the PMDC of late, and called for the need to look at individuals who can perform and stop imposing individuals from abroad.
By a way of suggestion Prince Harding appealed to party loyalist not to allow themselves to be used as fools and called on members to come onboard and prepare for the 2012 election that will bring the party to power as the only way out.
On the question of his performance in the past during his term of office at the party Prince Harding was quick to react that he has to back off, but however expressed reservations over what he called the Berewa and Kabbah politicking as he remains a die hard SLPP member.
There has been no official reaction, except that the criticism has been widely accepted but some party loyalist interviewed in Bo dismissing his criticism as a joker for doing little to save the situation.
