The hopes and aspirations of Councillor N’Yillah Othman to contest the forthcoming parliamentary seat within the Lungi environs for the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples’ Party has been grounded following his defeat at the symbol award ceremony last weekend.
Councillor N’Yillah Othman, who was eyeing Constituency 54, was defeated by 10 votes by Amadu Kalokoh, with the latter scoring 42 votes as against 32 for the former.
Contesting the election for the party in constituencies 55 and 56 which comprises of Kaffu Bullom and Lokomasama chiefdoms is Alhaji Abu Yasanneh who defeated Abu Mansaray by 75 votes to 14, while Hon. Osman Tolo Kanu, the incumbent SLPP district Chairman was declared unopposed.
For the Port Loko central seat Councillor Munir Sankoh, former chairman of East End Lions football club was declared the winner after he defeated Patrick Forki Sonkoi.
Meanwhile the contest for the party’s representatives continues right across the country with more surprises.
