An unhealthy scenario is brewing in Kono District as both the ruling and opposition parties are drawing daggers at each other.
According to a dispatch from our Kono correspondent, hell was let loose yesterday when both parties clashed at  the Tankoro Junction.
The clash occurred, the report stated, during a Police Partnership Board meeting conveyed to work out modalities so that the elections would pass off violence-free.
The meeting was called as a result of what transpired on July 24 when it was alleged that one prominent diamond dealer, Abdulai Sidibay, mobilized miners to brandish mining implements in the district which sent shock waves on the streets of Koidu.
When the Local Unit Commander, Joseph Kandeh and his partnership board, were about to commence the meeting with political parties’ representatives then came news of the fracas between the two main political parties.
The police, the report emphasized, immediately went into operation to quell down the situation by firing tear gas canisters, which helped to disperse supporters of the two parties.
Unconfirmed reports further state that one supporter of the ruling SLPP had his ear sliced off.
The Tankoro LUC, it was also reported, had so far ordered his men to arrest and detain anyone caught flouting the laws of the land. Normal business reportedly resumed after law enforcement personnel  quelled down the disturbances.
