SLP, Murray Town win first match

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and Murray Town over the weekend emerged as victors in the just concluded Cricket competition held at the Kingtom Oval.
The SLP who were the defending champions defeated Mid –West, a new cricket team in the league, by 6 wickets.
The best bowlers in the tournament were all from the SLP; and they are Sheka Kamara scoring 3 wickets for 17 runs, Mustapha Kallon 2 wickets for 21 runs and Gabriel Anthony 2 wickets for 34 runs.
The first to take the crease was Mid-West who batted first and made 85 runs in 24.4 overs. Emmanuel Pessima made 24 runs, Alfred Charley 12 runs and 30 extras runs.
When Sierra Leone Police took the crease they made 88 runs for 4 wickets in 13.3 overs; with Mustapha Kallon making 17 not out. Alhaji Koroma made 14 runs, Jacob Mansaray 11 runs and Luseni Senesie 10 runs. The best Mid-West bowlers were Abubakarr Kamara making 2 wickets for 17 runs and Issa James making 2 wickets for 16 runs.
In the other match, Murray Town defeated the Veterans side by 4 wickets; taking on the crease and making 152 runs all out in 26.1 overs with Abdul Sesay making 58 runs and Solomon Fatoma 25 runs.
The best bowlers in that match were Abubakarr Kargbo who made 8 runs, Alimany Turay 2 wickets for 29 runs and Samuel Coker 1 wicket for 35 runs.
Murray Town too made 155 runs for 6 wickets in 20.5 overs when they took the crease with Abubakarr Kargbo making 33 runs not out, Abdul Saffa 30 runs, Alphonson Massaquoi 19 runs and James Bundu with 16 runs.
During the match the best bowlers for Veterans were Abdul Sesay 2 wickets for 51 runs, Joseph Katta 1 wicket for 15 runs, Solomon Fatoma 1 wicket for 20 overs, and Mohamed Kamara 1 wicket for 25 runs.
The league continues over the weekend as Regent Olympic will battle with the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces; whilst the defending Champion engaged the Asians combined.
