The Executive of the Sierra Leone Lawn Tennis Association, SLLTA has suspended both male and female Tennis champions. Hindolo Karim the seed number one and Fudia Kargbo women’s champion.
They are suspended for six months as Sierra Leone brace up for the first International prize money ever in the history of Tennis in Sierra Leone. The tournament is slated for June, 2011 in Monrovia, Liberia.
The two champions were suspended because of what the Association called interference in their administrative business. Hindolo and Fudia wrote a letter to the SLLTA Executive challenging the suspension on the Max and Sam Tennis Foundation. It could be recalled that the Association slammed an indefinite suspension on all charity organizations for Tennis including the Max and Sam Foundation, Tennis for Africa and We Yone Tennis. According to report they are alleged to have made false claims on their various websites for the development of the game in Sierra Leone. It was against this backdrop that the alleged players wrote a letter to the association refuting the complaints of SLLTA and supporting the Max and Sam Foundation. However, Hindolo Karim and Fudia Kargbo have denied the allegation.
”I think it’s just a sabotage. We don’t know anything about that letter. You know we’re holding an envious position so anybody can do anything just to bring us down and I believe the sabotage is among ourselves.” said Hindolo adding that they have already forwarded an apology letter to the Association asking for mercy but they have not received any response.
