The Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA) has awarded air tickets to seven participants to enhance their contribution in the exhibition at the German European Trade Fair 2009.
The selection was done in respect of a mini exhibition that was held two weeks ago at SLIEPA office. This event started yesterday and would ends on the 3rd October 2009 at the Accra Conference Center- Accra, Ghana.
Speaking to participants, the Chief Executive Officer of SLIEPA, Patrick Caulker stated that the drive undertaken by SLIEPA is in line with the president’s agenda to bolster private sector institutions to build a strong economy, adding that it is further geared towards giving opportunity to Sierra Leoneans to see what is happening in other parts of the world, and ardently represent Sierra Leone in Ghana.
He said that the idea manifested is a pointer to the fact that players in the private based organizations are very dynamic and proactive to compete with other international markets.
He admonished participants to be cognizant of the fact that the competition is going to feature selected countries in Africa and Europe, and henceforth be prepared to surmount future challenges.
He said that participants should be able to compete with products from volume to quality, and further advised participants to make an effective use of the opportunity to showcase their products.
The Director of European Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. James Goodwill urged those who were not selected to apply more effort in their activities to measure up to future selections. He maintained that those selected should project the image of the country and make sure they do not take the back-stage in the exhibition process.
Speaking to Awoko, some of the beneficiaries of the exhibition programme expressed their appreciation for the opportunity given to them to represent Sierra Leone in Ghana.
They assured the benefactor that they will do everything in their ability to ensure an outstanding participation in the exercise.
