Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – As the Sierra Leone Insurance Company (SLICO) unveiled its booth in Jui, they presented the third lucky recipient of its “10 for 10 Money Jackpot” with a grand prize of NLe10,000. The delighted winner, Abass Kamara, a foreman supervisor at China Railway Seventh Group, couldn’t believe it when he received the news. Kamara, a consistent premium payer who never misses his daily payment of NLe 2, shared his excitement with reporters and encouraged everyone to join the “Fambul Insurance Scheme,” which targets low-income earners and promotes financial inclusion.
According to Joseph Metzger, the Chief Accountant of SLICO, the “10 for 10 Money Jackpot” initiative aims to bring low-income earners, such as petty tradespeople and cobblers, into the world of insurance through the “Fambul Insurance Scheme” package while also offering the chance to win a cash prize. Last August, SLICO partnered with Orange Mobile Money to make it easier for subscribers to pay their insurance premiums through the platform.
The new booth in Jui represents SLICO’s effort to bring insurance services directly to its subscribers, eliminating the need for clients to visit the office. Joseph explained that the booth offers access to all of the company’s insurance packages, making it more convenient for clients to do business with SLICO. OG/10/1/2023
