The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) had in an unprecedented move sacked its Administrative Secretary Abubakarr “Sweet Kay” Kabba through a press release after he had been out of office for the past 15 months.
The press release also stated that the scribe of the association Alimu Bah had also been shown the door way. The release states thus:
“The Executive Committee of the Sierra Leone Football Association wishes to announce that it has interdicted the current Secretary General Alimu Bah until the outcome of a pending matter he has with the Anti- Corruption Commission in Court.”
It went on to indicate that: “the Executive Committee has also dismissed Abubakarr Kabba aka Sweet Kay as Administrative Secretary of the Football Association for bringing the reputation of the Football Association into disrepute.”
However it has been learnt that immediately the decision was arrived at, First Vice President Joseph Kelfala ordered the withdrawal of the scribe’s name from those destined for South Africa and replaced it with his own name.
Speaking to Awoko shortly before he left the shores yesterday, “Sweet Kay” observed that the decision did not come as a surprise to him, because 15 months ago, “I have forgotten about them, and its rather strange that it should come through a press release rather than a formal letter.”
