The Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Football Association Alimu Bah has reacted to the Gambia Football Association Secretary General Jammeh Bojang who recently alleged that the Gambia called off a friendly match with Leone Stars because of demands for a large sum of money as “not true.”
Alimu Bah explained that the match was called off because of the date and they told the Gambian Football Association that they will be able to play the match on the 20th August while the GFA was saying the match should be played on the 12th August.
Bah noted that if the game is played by the 20th of August most of the foreign based players will be able to come and play the match.
But if the match was supposed to play on the 12th August the foreign based players will not be able to honor the fixtures that means the home based players are going to play and as a country we do not want to go and play because we want to, as we have started having better ranking in FIFA we want to maintain that – that was the reason not the money that they claim.
He mentioned that the money they were asking the GFA for was negotiable.
