Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) proudly unveiled ten Sierra Leonean referees, including four women and six men, who have been selected for the esteemed 2024 FIFA international referees list. The announcement was made on Tuesday, March 27, 2024, at the SLFA’s secretariat, recognizing the officials’ hard work and professionalism.
Harold Nat-Johnson, Vice President 1 of the football association, expressed immense delight at the rapid growth of female referees in Sierra Leone. He noted that the country now boasts four female referees, including two centre referees and two assistant referees, a significant advancement from the past.
“We are proud of the progress our referees have made,” said Nat-Johnson. “Their selection for the FIFA list is a testament to their dedication and skill.” He assured the referees of the federation’s unwavering support for their welfare and growth, promising additional courses to be conducted nationwide at all levels.
The unveiling ceremony drew the attendance of key figures, including acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh, Executive Committee member Brima Jallon, Chairman of the Referees Committee Alhaji M.A Sesay, and Head of the Referees department Foray A-E Marah. Their presence underscored the SLFA’s commitment to developing referees in Sierra Leone, ensuring they receive the necessary support and training to excel at the international level.
The FIFA-selected referees include Assistant Referees Mohamed K. Koroma, Alhaji Musa Kabia, Umu Marrah, Rashid M. Conteh, Aminata Fullah, and Central Referees Mohamed K. Koroma, Alhaji Musa Kabia, Umu Marrah, Rashid M. Conteh, and Aminata Fullah.
This recognition and acknowledgment mark a significant milestone for Sierra Leonean referees, reflecting their dedication and competence on the global stage.
