The President of Union de Doula football team, Kofi has blasted the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) as not up to the task sit is obliged with. He made this remark last Saturday; March 3rd 2012 after his team lost the Second Leg of the CAF Confederation Cup to FC Kallon at the National Stadium in Freetown by two goals to nil (2-0).
Kofi observed that Sierra Leone’s football association, lacks the technical know-how to run the game, noting that for last Saturday’s match SLAFA should have taken “full responsibility of the referees and they the visiting team.” According to him, everything about care was left in the hands of the hosting team, FC Kallon, which to him was “a demonstration of failure on the part of the FA,” Kofi stated. Kofi maintained that preparations and other arrangements that made the playing of the game feasible were put in place by FC Kallon.
Reacting to the claim, Public Relation Officer of SLFA, Sorie Ibrahim Sesay said the setup applicable here in Sierra Leone is completely different from what obtains in Cameroon.
“What obtains here is that the football team representatives should take care of referees, visiting teams, and the Match Commissioner to run their game. We as the national body have played our own part by giving the two clubs subsidies,” Sorie Ibrahim noted.
