The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA)’s executive has donated 102 million Leones to start-off the division and female leagues countrywide.
SLFA’s secretary general Alimu Bah made the disclosure to Awoko Sports yesterday at the Football Academy.
He said after the meeting last Friday with the regional heads, who are now part of the SLFA executive, the executive wasted no time to donate the money to kick start the leagues.
He noted that six million Leones was allotted to each regional association as subvention while 15 million Leones was given to the Western Region to kick-start both the division one and two leagues, and nine million Leones each to the three other regions.
The Western Region bagged 12 million Leones which was for the female league and eight million Leones each to the other three regions.
Alimu Bah mentioned that the Western Region received the highest sum of 33 million Leones while the other three regions received 23 millions Leones each, totalling 102 million Leones.
Secretary general Bah said this was not the first time they had given money to various regional associations but that for the last two years they were unable to give money to these regional bodies because they had to divert funds to sponsor the various teams that represented Sierra Leone in the last two continental competitions.
