The just concluded Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) congress was politicized by political affiliation to the ruling All People Congress (APC) party and the Sierra Leone People Party.
An APC party supporter said that the SLFA congress was an APC – SLPP affair. He opined that since Nahim Kadi is a strong member of the APC and has been for many years, they will not sit down and see him lose the election against a strong SLPP member.
He said the SLFA Congress was a smaller version of the national politics and that why they came very strong to support Nahim Kadi and they are going to help him to run the game of football the this time around.
He mentioned that Nahim Kadi has a passion for the game which they are going to help him to develop for the good of game.
He pointed out that the just concluded SLFA Congress was like the national election which the APC party won and there highest vote came from the Western Area and the Northern Region this was the same place that Nahim Kadi got his highest vote from to show that those two places are the strong holds of the APC.
He started that they were able to known the strength of the Dr Bangso camp after the first congress was cancelled and they were able to do their assignment very well and work on their opponent’s delegates lists to achieve their goals.
He also made reference to one of the publication by this newspaper quoting former defence minister Joe Bell that he will come back to football if the Dream Team headed by Foday Bangso wins.
He is a very nice fellow but when it comes to APC and SLPP matter we are not going to sit down and see SLPP wining any kind of election over the APC.
When asked why Nahim Kadi won the last SLFA congress four years ago in Makeni under the SLPP government by defeating Dr Bangura who they said is a strong SLPP member he replied by saying SLPP does not know what is politics that was why they gave Nahim Kadi the chance to win but we are not going to allow any SLPP member to win a major competitions under this government.
