The Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Limited (SLCB) has written a letter to the former President of the Sierra Leone Athletics Association Andre Hope to institute action against him if he fails to pay his outstanding balance in the bank.
According to the letter, which was the second reminder written by the bank to the former president, Hope has an overdue debt of nearly 16 million Leones.
The letter reads: “We refer to our letter dated 14th June 2008, on the above and once again write to advise that the account is overdrawn as shown with interest accruing and chargeable monthly… No doubt, you will agree that the account has remained overdrawn for a considerable length of time with no effort seen to clear the debt.”
The letter also mentioned that Hope is “required to take prompt and positive steps to liquidate the outstanding balance with [the bank] within 21 days from the date of this letter.”
If Hope fails to pay his debt, the bank will be “constrained to institute actions to protect its interest.”
