The Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) Sidney Benka-Coker has written a letter to the Veterans Cricket Club with the caption; To Reinstate the Veterans Cricket Club to the Sierra Leone Cricket Association.
The letter states that he has been directed by the President of the SLCA Beresford Bournes-Coker to acknowledge receipt of a letter dated 17th August 2008 for the payment of subscription which was actually handed over to him on Monday 25th August 2008.
The letter went further to recognize the fact that “your inferred quotation seemed to be at variance with the general view as depicted by the constitution.”
The letter also gave reference to Article 10 of the SLCA, stating “It is on this premise that I write in the interim to inform you that your club will be temporarily accepted in good faith to participate in the forthcoming league in the name of development of cricket as your club had already paid the prescribed subscription.”
The letter also went further to inform them that “your club’s participation in this league does not automatically guarantee full membership to your club much as there was no proof of the Veterans Club existence in the past and the club has never been granted admission of membership by an AGM.
Therefore the Veterans Cricket club may not be allowed to fully participate in any decision –making process until club status for membership is approved as contained in Article 13, clause (v) of the constitution.
