The Sierra Leone Cricket Association constitution saga continues with the secretary general, Sidney O Benka-Coker, reacting tothe first Vice President Anior Scott on the said constitution matter
Excerpts from the letter which was written to first Vice President of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association read:
“With reference to your letter dated the 22nd July 2008, I wish to clarify all the most pertinent issues as was pointed out by you on the above subject….”
“Firstly, may I thank you for your concerns over the Draft Constitution matter. I would however like to point out that I have never taken upon myself to write out a ‘so called’ draft constitution on behalf of the Executive Committee as you have inferred…”
“It suffices therefore to say that the supposedly Draft Constitution had been a subject matter during the previous Executive Committee’s administrative affairs and had trickled down to the present Executive Committee’s administration. It is very much disheartening to note from your letter that you happened to either basking in the euphoria of the past glories or living within the confine of the pigment of your imagination….”
“I would like you to realize that the accompanying letter to the draft did not in any way suggest that the draft was binding rather it requested for inputs from all the stake-holders.
Surprisingly, you have not suggested any valuable clause to the draft as was requested but just too cleverly it out rightly.”
The letter also mentioned that he is no way ready to lead anyone by the nose and, “It is preferable for me not to be led into my battle of words I would like to correct the notion you have created in the public eye by publishing your letter in one of our tabloids. And I also would like you to understand that I am not under any obligation to report directly to you (Anior Scott) much as you misplace your sense of judgment in this matter I shall endeavor to give you all the necessary addresses as to where you will appropriately be given your required answer.”
“This is on the purview of your feelings that there was an iota of doubt as to my honesty in the matter and hence please make yourself comfortable by contacting the ACA-ICC Chief Executive Officer Mr. Cassim Suliman.”
The letter went further to state the second point of contention: “I have no comment as it is totally out of place and you are quite au fait with this subject matter.”
“I have always been used to mentioned to you personally that your assumption of truth of things until contrary proven wrong seemed to have no bound and here we go again.”
“Finally I would like to point out to you that right from the inception of the administration of the present executive committee you have been a critic than an innovator and besides, you have on several occasions gone so low as to inciting the players against the authority of the other executive members.”
“And you have failed to perform your role as the head of the fund –raising committee and you have never positively performed in some of the planned activities apart from your critique role.”
“I however have a consolation from your missive though in that I am very happy to note with interest according to you that’if an old order should be amended let it yield very positive and meaningful results for all young and old (including females) and for the good name of cricket.”
