The Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) Executives are appealing to companies and individuals to come on board to sponsor the national teams and their leagues.
The Publicity Secretary of the Association, Bockarie Alieu, said the executives cannot run an effective league without sponsorship, and the game cannot develop in the country.
He went further that the association will start three different kinds of leagues in October at the Kingtom Oval: A female, school and national cricket league. He mentioned that the female league will comprise of four teams: Prisons, Police, Stadium Eleven and Kingtom Barracks. Their matches will be played on Fridays.
The School league competition will be played on weekdays with the schools divided into groups. The final league will be the national cricket league where all the clubs will participate.
Alieu said that the best players during league competitions will be invited to the different national teams to represent Sierra Leone in international assignments.
