Freetown Cold Storage (FCS), which is gradually transforming to the Sierra Leone Bottling Company (SLBC), has contributed over $1.5m on taxes. This was disclosed by the Managing Director, Eric Djibo.
In his statement during the launching of a business initiative dubbed as the ‘Amputee Entrepreneurship” Djibo noted that “Cold Storage is greatly contributing to the Government of Sierra Leone by paying various taxes. For 2007 alone we have contributed over Le5bn i.e. over $1.5m [on taxes],” he said.
He explained that the company has been committed and is still committed to deliver the best products to its consumers. “We are engaging our company into International Standard Organization certification (ISO 9000 and 14000),” he disclosed.
He averred that the ISO 9000 addresses quality management, while the ISO 14000 module deals with environmental management.
He assured the gathering that the company would “never sacrifice quality for cost savings.”
“We know that because of our stringent standards our operating cost are higher than that of others, but we are not going to change our standard,” he maintained. The MD accentuated that “consumers must know that when they choose our product, they choose the best soft drink produced in the country.”
