The Single Leg Amputee Social Club of Sierra Leone yesterday presented their runners-up trophy to Vice President Sam Samuma in Freetown.
After receiving the trophy the Vice President said, “you have made Sierra Leoneans to be proud by bringing the runners-up trophy as you promised”.
The Public Relations Officer of the Single Leg Amputee, Albert Mustapha, said they had done a lot to promote football in the country and that they had been the first organization to bring a unique trophy home. He said those who were not amputees had never brought such a trophy home.
The Communication and External Relations Specialist at UNDP, Peter Ngu Tayong who served as team manager during the tournament in Liberia, said he was happy as the Single Leg Amputees were able to bring trophy home which was a big achievement for the nation as they had put Sierra Leone on the map.
He mentioned that during the competition the Single Leg Amputees did everything possible to bring laurels home.
