The Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Association of Martial Arts (SLAMA) Bai Osman Kolorie Dumbuya has written a letter to Idrissa Massaquoi suspending him from acting as president of SLAMA.
The letter states that the elected executive and technical committee members of the SLAMA have resolved after a number of meetings to suspend Idrissa Massaquoi from acting as the president of SLAMA.
The reason for the suspension according to the letter “are many but the bottom line is that you have violated the SLAMA constitution by forming another Martial Arts Association which you called the Sierra Leone National Association of Martial Arts.”
The letter further stated that Idrissa Massaquoi is “also involved in the conduction of fake and sub-standard martial election on the 9th August 2008 which the executive and technical committee of SLAMA condemns.”
The letter also mentioned that Massaquoi boldly argued against the Elected Executive of the SLAMA over the existence of the alleged fake martial art association in a radio interview at Hill station Radio Kallone station and that he published in the local sport newspaper on the 14th August 2008 that he is the president for Judo and the Vice President for Taekwondo and president of his own founded association – SLNAMA.
The letter also stated that Idrissa Massaquoi wrote a letter to the chief of staff of the republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces on the 10th September 2008 about the formation of his own martial association and condemning the calendar of activities drawn and sent by the executive and Technical committee of SLAMA.
In conclusion the letter also states that the Elected Executive members of SLAMA support the suspension of Idrissa Massaquoi from acting as the SLAMA president and it has been decided that Sensei Desmond Gabber the Vice President will be acting as president from now on.
