The Secretary-General of Sierra Leone Association of Martial Arts (SLAMA), Baiosman Kalorie Dumbuya has written a letter to the National Olympic Committee on behalf of the Executive.
The letter was to inform the NOC executive that the different Martial –Arts disciplines in the SLAMA had never conducted any election which would legitimize them to sit in the NOC.
All of these disciplines are still under the supervision of SLAMA.It is the SLAMA that has the right to sit in the NOC until further consultations are made.
The reason being that the SLAMA congress was organized without laid down principles on the rights and duties of the different disciplines.
It was also revealed that the Assistant Director of Sports, Victor Hasting-Spaine, who was supposed to chair the congress, refused to conduct the election of the various disciplines and walked out of the Congress on the grounds that the constitution for the separate disciplines were still unwritten on the day of the Congress which was August 9, 2008. He stressed that it was illegal for him to use the SLAMA Constitution to conduct elections for the various disciplines.
As the SLAMA Elective Congress ended in conflict with the Chairperson walking out, aspirants of the various disciplines also left followed by a quorum of the SLAMA Executive.
