The Sierra Leone Association of Martial Arts (SLAMA) in a letter written on the 6th January 2009 by the Secretary General of the association Bai Osman Kalorie Dumbuya to the President of the National Olympic Committee(NOC) Henry Moore, has appointed Vice President Sensei Desmond Garber to vote on behalf of SLAMA in the forthcoming NOC-SL election slated for 16th January 2009 at the National Stadium Hostel in Freetown.
The letter states that following the suspension of Idrissa Massaquoi from acting as the president of SLAMA, the elected Executive members together with stakeholders in Martial Arts in Sierra Leone held a series of meetings after which a decision was taken that Idrissa Massaquoi is currently under suspension for violating the SLAMA constitution, and he will not be allowed to vote representing the association in the forthcoming NOC-Sierra Leone election schedule to take place on Friday 16th January 2009.
The letter went further that the elected Executive members of SLAMA had made it clear that the Vice President Sensei Desmond Garber who is presently acting in the capacity as president will represent SLAMA to vote as the President in the NOC-election.
The letter concluded by saying that furthermore they have informed all stakeholders in Martial Arts and the public about the false pretences of Idrissa Massaquoi.
