The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) have commended Lawyer Yada Williams for his achievements in filing the case for SLAJ and its partner institution for an interpretation of certain sections of the 1965 public order act.
The SLAJ secretariat said in a press release that the entire membership of the organization reaffirms it unwavering support for him to continue pursuing the matter to its legal logical conclusion especially at a time “like this when journalists and media stakeholders in the country are yearning for self-regulation and the decriminalization of the libel laws” SLAJ further wish to solicit support of its membership and the public in the struggle to liberate freedom of opinion and expression in Sierra Leone as the release stated “we are undeterred in our course of action to legally as well as as diplomatically resolve this matter once and for all”
