The vice president of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Phillip Neville who is also the Managing Editor of the Standard Times newspaper, has re-echoed the association’s call for violence-free elections.
At a press conference on Saturday in his office, Mr Neville blasted politicians who wanted to use violence as a way of getting political power.
He said politicians should not make use of former armed men as their presence would serve as a recipe for violence, and therefore sent a clear message to politicians that violence was not the answer and that they should not intimidate others.
Mr Neville described as baseless a newspaper publication which alleged that he held an APC meeting at his house with the aim of perpetrating violence.
The Managing Editor said when he contacted the source the paper made reference to, the source said he had not seen the paper.
