The Sierra Leone Athletics Association (SLAA) is expected to participate in the first Mano River Union Athletics Competition in the Samuel K. Doe Stadium in Liberia slated for April 2 to 6 this year. It will be organized by the Liberia Athletics Federation, and
Four countries are expected to take part in the competition including the host Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Ivory Coast.
Before the start of the competition Ivory Coast will lead a refresher coaching seminar one day before the competition starts.
This competition is an opportunity to activate Mano River Union Athletics and it will also increase interest from the Mano River Union Athletics Federations to cooperate and organize MRU competitions.
During this competition there would also be an increase of level one coaches and also large numbers of young athletes are expected to come to represent their countries.
During the competition athletes are going to participate in about 11 events which have been selected by the committee. Some of these events are 100 meters, 200 meters, 800 meters Long Jump, Shot Put and a host of others.
Also during the competition 2 athletes per country will be allowed for each event and those who qualify will proceed to the other stage of the competition.
