Information gathered from Awoko Sports revealed that Sierra Leone Athletics’ Association (SLAA) has gone to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to information received, the Deputy Minister of Education Youth and Sports II Dr Lansana Nyalley in a letter written to Dr Bah his boss, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry and host of others.
Also the ACC has complained Mr. Victor Spain coach of the National Olympic Committee and the letter reads:
On Monday 26th July Dr Nyallay as Chairman of the complaint Unit of the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports referred an ACC case of reference number of 3522 from an anonymous caller complaining that Mr Spain has single handedly picked the Sierra Leone representatives to the coming Commonwealth Games in India without reference to the technical committee.
The letter further stated that the minister Lansana Nyalley said he intends to investigate the allegation by conducting a hearing in his office tomorrow Thursday 29th July 2010 at 10am.
He is also requesting the appropriate people connected with the case to ensure that they attend on time as he is seriously counting on their support.
When contacted, Victor Hasting Spaine at his Stadium Office in Freetown said that they are not referring to him as he is not Victor Spain and he is not coach of the National Olympic Committee because NOC has no coach.
He also stated that he is the chef de mission responsible for the games and he registers athletes for the games from the list he receives from the associations.
If athletes want to know who selected them for the games let them contact their head coach he will be in better position to answer to their question.
