Sierra Leone: Recently celebrating its 49th anniversary, the Managing Director of the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Limited, Abdulai Fidelis Turay, stated his satisfaction with the immeasurable contribution by his staff towards the bank’s success while encouraging them to continue pushing hard for the bank to remain a shining legacy for the next generation of Sierra Leoneans.
In the country’s banking industry, SLCB stands in an enviable position, second to none in terms of largest customer base, largest deposits, highest profits and the most widespread corporate social responsibility outreach.
For twelve quarters running, Bank of Sierra Leone records have showed that SLCB consistently reported the highest gross earnings and highest annual profits. This achievement, the Deputy Managing Director, Bockarie Kalokoh, said “didn’t happen in a day or through magic but excellent team play and hard work”.
Adding, “What is remarkable about SLCB is that it does not rest on its laurels. It keeps searching for innovation to continue consolidating its top-ranking position as the nation’s biggest financial service provider.” Enjoying unfettered operational freedom from the government which is its principal shareholder, SLCB has succeeded in the country’s financial inclusion policy taking banking to the doorsteps and comfort of the homes and offices of its customers through community banking kiosks, My Yone SLCB Tellers and mobile banking applications.
It has gone beyond giving its customers a trustworthy ICT platform to conveniently receive and send money within and outside the country with an array of international money transfer services including Moneygram, Western Union, Small World, RIA, Swift and locally through Salone Link, Orange and Africell Mobile Money.
