Abdulai Osman Kamara, an Arts student at Fourah Bay College was yesterday sentenced by Magistrate Bankole Shyllon to six months imprisonment for escaping Police net.
The student was arraigned before the Magistrate on two counts of larceny and escaping police arrest.
He was accused of stealing 12 electrical switches at FBC campus amounting to Le 70,000 of which he pleaded not guilty; but pleaded guilty to the other charge of escaping from Police net.
However, Woman Police Constable Marrah told the court that when statements were taken from the accused person, he appended his signature on them after accepting the two charges.
The Magistrate was furious about his false statements in court and therefore sentenced him to six months in prison; whilst judgment on the other charge would be heard on January 9, 2009.
