Sierra Leone’s Female National U-17 the Sierra Starlets will play tomorrow in The Gambia against their Gambian Female U-17 counterparts in the first leg of the preliminary rounds of the World Cup campaign.
The team which left their home shores on Wednesday, January 18th 2012 with a 24-man delegation is in Banjul without their Coordinator, Morrison Sannoh. However, Sannoh is expected to join the team today, Friday January 20th 2012 ahead of tomorrow’s match.
Speaking to Awoko Sports, the media officer who accompanied the team, Alieu Bockarie said that the team is in high spirit and are confident of victory over their Gambian counterparts in spite of the financial constraints faced by the team.
According to reliable information reaching this press, Isha Johansen facilitated the team’s trip by providing 21 air tickets while the football association provided only 4 air tickets to make the trip a reality.
The Sierra Starlet team comprises the following players: Cecilia Bangura, Jariatu Kamara, Hannah Conteh (captain)Haja Kamara, Margret Sesay, Sarah Bangura, Fatmata Turay, Fatmata Mansaray, Aminata Lebbie, Zainba Sesay, Alice Bundor, Adama Sesay, Rashidatu Kamara, Isata Kamara, Wuyian Muahid, Nansu Bundor and Hassanatu Jalloh.
