Sierra Queens Sierra Leone’s National female football team is expected to be camped in Lunsar by the 15 of this month ahead of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Female competition in Abuja, Nigeria which was originally slated for July 2009 but was postponed to August.
The technical Director of the team Derrick Biosion said they decided to camp the team in Lunsar because they will attract less attention and interference. But before going to camp four players who were spotted in Kono from Diamond Queens will be in town before the selection of players going to camp would be made.
When the team is camped they will play series of friendly matches in Bo and Kenema as part of their preparation before the final selection is made.
The technical Director of the team Derrick Biosion said the postponement of the competition will not affect the team in anyway as they he has enough time to prepare the team for the competition
He also disclosed that the team is in Group B, to play against their West African neighbors: Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania of East Africa.’
While in Group A the hosts Nigeria will lock horns with Guinea, Senegal and The Gambia.
In another development, the captain of the team, and a player of Soccer Angels Musu Pele is leading the current Female League goal chart with 11 goals from 9 matches played so far.
Musu said that she has been in soccer for years now and therefore knows all the techniques in scoring goals. She said since her first appearance in football competition for the Soccer Angels Squad, she has emerged as best player and highest goal scorer for two seasons. “I was then called to the national team which went to Nigeria although I had a bad season then” Musu concluded.
