The Nigeria Expert Olugbenga Lawal who was in Freetown to organize a three days FINA Swimming Officials Clinic has said that winning medals does not come in a day
He made this statement during the closing ceremony on Thursday 29th September 2016 at the Presidential Lounge Siaka Stevens stadium in Freetown.
He was advising some of the athletes who were part of the clinic to train 6 days in a week and each day they must train for 6 hours, adding with such training they will grow and develop.
He stated that he was pleased with the performance of the participants as they were very cooperative throughout the clinic.
Olugbenga Lawal has said there is no end to learning when you go through the clinic you have updated yourself which is good for the association that is why I am appealing to all those who have gone through the clinic to go back to their various districts and communities to spread the message of what they have learned.
He said the clinic was a success because of the support he received from government, the National Olympic Committee and the association.
The scribe of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Joseph Nyande noted that this is the first time in the history of the Olympic Games for Sierra Leone to have four athletes with two coming from the Swimming Association that is why this clinic is good for the association.
The reason for that is their coaches must make good use of what they have learnt to pass to the athletes who are representing the country internationally.
He revealed that FINA is the most important Association that is working with the National Olympic Committee (NOC) for the development of Swimming.
