Mercury International Charitable Foundation one of the renowned foundations in the country has made a massive 4.2 Billion Leones donation over the past 6 months from January to June this year.
This was made known by the chairman of the Foundation Samir Hassaniyeh. The donation comprises of scholarship, funding medical bills and host of other things.
He also stated that on 7th May 2016 they made a Le 160 Million donation to Educaid Sierra Leone in partnership with University of Makeni for a certificate level pilot already completed diploma course underway and a degree course in the pipeline in leadership and Executive Management.
He went further that Mercury international company SL Ltd, through its charitable foundation on April 21st 2016,donated Le15 Million as a championship price to the Sierra Leone Boxing Association for a re-fight between Abu Bakar Katta and Cuba based Daniel Lassayo for the country’s Welter weight champion.

Mercury International Charitable Foundation on 10th February 2016, made a Le10 Million donation to Life By Design as Platinum Sponsors of an achievement awards to deserving pupils for excellent performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination.
Mercury International Charitable Foundation on 5th February 2016, made a Le20 Milion donation to a teacher of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School by the name of Mr Samuel Tengah to do a prosthetics surgery operation for an elbow replacement in Choithram hospital in India.
Mercury International charitable foundation on 24th February 2016 made a Le 37 million sponsorship support to three Sierra Leoneans from college of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences University of Sierra Leone to attend the 65th General Assembly of International Federation of Medical Student’s Association (IFMSA) in St Paul’s Bay, Malta.
Mercury International Charitable Foundation on March 2nd 2016, made a Le76,295,000 scholarship donation to over 40 vulnerable pupils and students of friends of Ernest Bai Koroma across the Mecury International company SL Ltd, through its Charitable Foundation and on Monday 16th May 2016 provided a big boost of Le50 Million supports to Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone ahead of its Biannual congress or Annual General meeting(AGM) to be held in Makeni City from 19th -21st May.
Mercury International through its Charitable Foundation made a partnership donation of 75 million Leones worth of training manual and other equipment to the Sierra Leone Legal Aid Board to organize legal literacy training and sensitisation programs and a Le 20 million cheque for a workshop to develop the training manual for implementation on the 16th February,2016.
On the 19th February 2016 Mercury International Foundation made a monthly donation of Le 25 million to the Sierra Leone legal Aid Board to organize literacy trainings and sensitization programs in different communities in the western area.
He said also on 8th June they made a Le 20 Million yearly donation to the Freetown Cheshire home and they also donated the same amount to Balanta Musical Academy as its yearly support for the day to day running of the academy.
They also donated Le50 Million cheque to Sierra Leone Bar Association for its Annual General Meeting on the 1st June, they also made donation to King George Home for the aged which is Le20 Millon. The same amount also was donated to Mason’s partner on 5th May,2016.
The same amount of Le 20 Million was also given to the school for the Blind while the same presentation was done to school for the deaf.
