Following their exciting start to the season, the Team Manager of Wanderers Cricket Club (WCC), Alhaji Koroma, has urged his boys to target a second consecutive win to maintain their winning streak in the Mercury T20 division one league.
Wanderers, who won a convincing victory with an impressive start in their opening match against Albert Academy last Saturday, aims at beating last season’s third place finisher’s, Old Prince Waleans Cricket Club to solidify their campaign of promoting to the ODI Premier League.
The team manager believes his boys have an inspiring team spirit to take on their opponents in every match, with the anticipation to win and increase their chances of promoting to the top level. Noting their focus is to win more games against the other teams.
Koroma remarked, “The boys are really determined to play hard to win the league and promote the club to the premier. We have a very good team with players that have wealth of experience in playing the game. They will use their experience as the weapon to destroy the other teams”.
“After winning our first match, we’ve realized that we are capable of beating any team we face, despite the fact that the other clubs also have some good players. We know we should be mindful of their qualities, but we’ve improved as a team, and we know our strength,” he added.
Wanderers will be facing a well-focused and threatening Old Prince Waleans side that are optimistic of getting their first victory in the league on Saturday at their own ground.
Old Prince Waleans Captain, Onessimus Bull, said technically WCC players are good because they have couple of experienced players that have been in the game for a long time. But, with the team of teenage players on their squad, they will beat Wanderers on Saturday to claim their first victory.
“This is not the first time we are playing against them; we’ve played them over the past years and we produced positive results, so I see no reason why we can fail to beat them as usual,” the Captain Bull said.
This weekend will see another interesting set of matches at the Prince of Wales Secondary School grounds in Kingtom, as teams faces tough task to score more runs, take more wickets and avoid dropping catches.
