Union Cycling International (UCI) has officially recognized the Percy Nicholson executive following series of issues after the 6th October elective congress of the Sierra Leone National Cycling Association (SLNCA) last year.
After the election President Percy Nicholson and Secretary General Curtis Johnson were invited to the Confederation of Africa Cycling (CAC) congress in Luxor, Egypt, where both of them were introduced as the new executive.
This followed allegations and counter allegations by the outgone executive of former President Winston DC Crowther, prompting a reply from the new Secretary General Mr Johnson.
In response Pascale Schyns UCI International Relations Manager replied thus:
Dear Mr Johnson,
I thank you very much for your email, very explanatory.
As you know, the situation was very confused concerning your National Federation; we received contradictory information from the CAC.
Considering you were presented to us as the new President and Secretary General of the Sierra Leone National Federation and that we, as UCI, officially recognized you, we have no reason to not recognize you now, except if the CAC present us legal documentation proving the contrary.
We also suggest you present the entire case, with the elements presented to the UCI ethics commission.
