The organizing Secretary of Sierra Leone Basketball Association, Alhaji Harun Sesay, who doubles as the national head coach, has told this medium that basketball is growing slowly in the country, despite the fact that there is lack of basic facilities to develop the game.
He reiterated that the basketball federation has tried in their own way to take the game across the country, through the help of the National Olympic Committee.
He said even though they are having problems with playing area but the National Olympic Committee has helped them with the construction of four basketball courts, one in each region.
He said that the courts are not enough for the game to be played in each district in the country, but with the little they have, people can now play, interpret the rules of the game and even administer it.
Alhaji Harun added however that with the little resources the association has, eight clubs in Western Area are currently playing the inter-club basketball competition at the National Stadium basketball court, which started on May 2nd 2014.
