The head coach of the national swimming team Bobson Mansaray says the performance of his two swimmers Bunturabie Jalloh and Osman Kamara in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games will inspire more young people to take swimming as their career.
Coach Bobson asserted that he was impressed with the performances of Jalloh and Kamara despite they failed to make it to the semis of the 50m Freestyle event.
“Our participation in Rio is a step in the right direction. This will raise awareness to those who feel swimming is a dormant sport – that we are moving in the right trend”.
“I am very proud of both swimmers because they treated this competition with all seriousness by training hard to break the national records. As first timers in the Olympics they were very impressive, “he said.
He added that with motivation and support from the Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Water Polo Association, National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sport/Sport Council swimming will qualify to Tokyo 2020.
