Sierra Leone Taekwondo Association bracing themselves to compete in this year’s 9th WTF World Taekwondo Poomsae championship, in Aguascalientes; Mexico, from 30th October to 2nd November, 2014.
The 9th edition of the WTF World Poomsae Taekwondo Championships will feature cadet divisions as well as over and under-65 year old division.
According to information gathered from the Taekwondo President in the country, Oness Johnson, if the situation gets better, they are expected to attend the competition. But mobilizing funds will be their next challenge.
He also revealed that Freestyle Poomsae was introduced in 2012 during the 7th WFT World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship in Tunja, Colombia.
And since then, it has grown into a very popular competition.
For this year’s World championships freestyle competitions will, for the first time, be held in two age categories: (under and over 17 years old).
The President of WTF, Chungwon Choue stated that the number of athletes competing in the WTF World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships has steadily increased since the inauguration in 2006, and that he is hopeful that the championships in Aguascalientes, Mexico, will be another success in the history of the World Poomsae Championships.
