One of Sierra Leone Table Tennis professional player Ibrahim kamara is set to participate in the Table Tennis international championship which will be hosted in China from the 14th August ending on 24th.
The invitation was from the world governing body of Table Tennis and Sierra Leone was invited based on the high standard of performance which the players normally put up in local and international competitions.
According to Ibrahim Kamara who was the only player invited to represent Sierra Leone, he has been playing Table Tennis since he was in school in America and because of his good performance the School awarded him 4 years scholarship.
He also revealed that he has been in Nigeria visiting a training camp and he has won several competitions across Africa.
Ibrahim made it clear that he is facing financial constraints to participate and represent Sierra Leone in the China games. He said he is looking out for about $2,000 for ticket and pocket money.
He also disclosed that he has $500 which was given to him by friends, and a sport philanthropist Fred Claye gave him Hummel kits which include track suit. He went on to say that the government especially the sports ministry had not in any time render them support to participate or organized competitions.
Meanwhile he pleaded with the government and Sierra Leoneans to help him so that he can go and fly the Country’s flag high with the hope of winning laurels for the Association and the Country as a whole.
